Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has expressed concerns over the New York Jetsâ offensive performance, urging his teammates to âgrow upâ after the bumpy start of this NFL season.
The Jetsâ offensive unit has struggled to put up points without Rodgers. However, the quarterback was more concerned about what was happening on the field. He called for better composure and teamwork.
Rodgers addressed the issue during his weekly appearance on âThe Pat McAfee Show.â He mentioned dissatisfaction with sideline discussions following Sundayâs 15-10 home loss to the New England Patriots.
âToo many little side conversations, and we just need to grow up a little bit on offense and lock in and do our jobs and not point fingers at each other,â Rodgers said.
Rodgers also addressed Jets legend and Hall of Famer Joe Namathâs public criticism of Zach Wilsonâs below-average performance against New England.
Last year, Wilson got benched twice by head coach Robert Saleh due to poor performance. However, Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas had a plan for Wilson to learn from Rodgers as his backup and eventually become the starter after Rodgers retired.
But when Rodgers got injured, they changed this plan. Surprisingly, they didnât bring in a veteran quarterback to compete with or possibly replace Wilson as the starter, per Daily Mail report.
The former Green Bay Packers QB emphasized the importance of the team staying united.
âI want to see us stick together through the tough times,â Rodgers said.
âLetâs the boys on the field. Letâs stick with our guys, and letâs have a little belief, because as we saw this weekend, anybody can beat anybody.â
Rodgers also discussed the Jetsâ comeback last year as evidence that the current roster can recover. He pointed out that last yearâs squad faced a similar 1-2 start but then achieved several remarkable victories, including a win against the Packers in Green Bay.
Rodgers had to watch the game against the Patriots at home due to his ongoing recovery from an Achilles tendon injury sustained in the season opener.
