The most decorated quarterback in NFL history, Tom Brady, announced via a Twitter video Wednesday that he would finally “retire for good.” Brady’s decision reaped a lot of reactions, one of which came from NFL Hall of Famer Joe Theismann.
Theismann, who spent his NFL career as a Washington Redskins QB, said he believes that Brady would stand apart from other quarterbacks in of Super Bowl rings.
Theismann then continued his praise for the 45-year-old, saying he was “more than a generational quarterback” and no player would equal him. He explained that he was not surprised by Brady’s decision.

“He is true if there is such a thing, more than a generational quarterback,” Theisman said, as quoted by Fox News Digital. “A lot of young guys will aspire to try and accomplish what he did. But no one ever will. Nobody’s going to win seven world championships.”
Moreover, Theismann said that Brady’s retirement from professional football was the right decision. The former QB said Brady’s retirement would allow other young quarterbacks to show their potential.
“It’s not going to happen again. So what we’ve been able to see is monumental. And I think it’s the right decision. As I said, I felt like last year was going to be his last year. So that chapter is going to be closed, and now the young guns will get their days in the sunshine,” Theismann said.
Before the announcement, there were rumors that the Las Vegas Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Brady’s former team, the New England Patriots, were among the teams that were interested in g him.
Throughout his career, Brady won seven Super Bowls, six rings with the Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.
In his retirement video, Brady expressed his gratitude for everyone who had ed him throughout his career.
He also revealed that he would not change a thing as he had done before. Brady had announced that he would retire in February 2022 before he decided to play one more season with the Buccaneers.
“I thank you guys so much to every single one of you for ing me. My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors; I can go on forever. There are too many. Thank you, guys, for allowing me to live my absolute dream,” said Brady.
In the 2022 season, Brady led Tampa Bay to the playoffs, despite finishing the regular season with an 8-9 record. He recorded 4,694 ing yards and 25 touchdown es. He also led the league in completions with 490 out of 733 es.
